Single blind. Serious quality on display here though also very clearly a young wine that is decades from peak drinking. Musk, cherry, florals, spice and smoke. Gritty tannins but already can see the polish/roundness and the path to integrate with fruit. Hold for 10+ years.

Barbaresco vs. Barolo (Chicago, IL): Served single blind. High-toned and showing a touch of cough syrup and slightly confected red fruit. Quite ripe, with a touch of alcohol showing through on the finish. In contrast to the relatively cool 2012s, this shows the lighter modern Roagna house style, but in a relatively hot year. I ended up guessing this was the Barolo due to its plusher structure.

Lovely. Double decanted. Floral nose. Light color with a complicated and outstanding palate. Very Nebbiolo on the lighter side, very much of the place. Great bottle, glad I have more,

A little surly to begin with, showing some meat and soot. It breathed to show decaying rose and an intense core of cherry fruit. It has good volume and presence, with plenty of underlying chew from ripe tannins. The finish is very savoury and very long. Still so much in the tank here.
