2002 Burgundy, round 2 (Noize): A rich, punchy wine, with pineapple and cream; the nose was heady and sensual. Remarkably candied on the palate, almost red-fruited, and this reminded me of the Glenmorangie Milsean (i.e. a whisky finished in red wine casks, with a curiously, deliciously sweet finish). Softly textured too, but for me in balance and a delight to drink, although I think some at the table found it a little 'too much'.

9th of 12, opened 20 minutes, perfect level, cork third soaked, as bottles since 2018, attractive, nuanced, even some upside but needs more weight and energy for better than F+ (18)......BdM to be preferred in this vintage but should improve over next couple of years and hold for 5 years or so thereafter.

7th of 12, opened 30 minutes, perfect cork and level, little changed from last bottle in 8/18, pure, quite steely, plenty of bant, decent complexity, length and persistence, still remarkably youthful, upside yet. F+ (18).

Super clean as if was right out of the barrel. Good nose and flavor it just hasn’t developed. Hold for 5+ years.
