(Spottswoode Estate Cabernet Sauvignon) The 25th-anniversary edition includes 1.5% Cabernet Franc. The color is deep violet, almost opaque. Tobacco, blackcurrant, and cassis appear on the nose, along with noticeable alcohol. The palate features juicy acidity, with blackberry and blueberry fruit set against a stony mineral backdrop. Tannins are youthfully tight, but not drying; the finish is long. Winery Spotlight: Spottswoode Estate

Opened up nicely to expose nuances of ripe red-black fruit with an alluring bit of smokiness.

On the nose - some forest floor, chalk and maybe some truffle.
A full mouth feel with sweet dark fruit, some “dust” and a long simmering finish.

Dark fruit, vanilla/new oak flavors, some graphite on the finish; fuller body; welcoming tannins; moderate acidity.
Pretty great (maybe 91 points), but not as good as I normally expect from Spottswoode.
