  • So that 1/2 case lasted about 5 months. Enjoyed the last one as much as the first and would surely reload if this one was still available. Should likely bump it up a point or two on sheer quality before even mentioning the stellar QPR...

  • $8 at K & L. On the nose, immediately calls to mind dark fruits, leather, and cedar. This is a wine I found improved a great deal after a day - in hindsight would have decanted it. The winery says it can be aged 10-15 years and while that's normally hyperbole, I can see it in this case - this is still a big wine and a bit rough-edged by nature, The initial impression on the palate is roasted meat, which is foillowed by a hint of spice and bitter chocolate. Especially with a good amount of air, a surprising amount of sweet fruit presents itself and the tannins become silky and fine, calling to mind the much higher price this wine originally retailed for. Because there's a good deal of acidity with this one, it works exceptionally well with food. It was excellent with a Bolognese, and of course it would pair beautifully with richer meat dishes like pot roast or prime rib.

  • An amazing Shiraz. Smooth with no bitterness.

  • (14%) Picked this one up for $8 (marked down from $18) on sale. Smoky, rich and dark fruit on a spiced nose with hints of minerals and meats. Warm and juicy on the palate with a similar profile though perhaps a touch tarter than the nose would indicate. More mineral too which leads into a nice lasting finish with fine grained tannins. Smooth, balanced and nice acidity. I’m a fan. A nice QPR at 8; perhaps I should grab half a case for short term cellaring?

  • Nice Shiraz - not as tart or sour with more subdued tannins. Would buy again.
