  2006 Barolo (Trattoria One Fifth, NYC.): [Double decanted at 9am.] Big, smoky black fruit nose. Ripe black fruit. Long and tannic. A little too polished for my taste. Doesn't have the character of the best wines tonight.

  Think it’s still young but fabulous. Opened 3 hrs before tasting and enjoyed for 6 hrs. A little bitter taste gradually got off after some time, it shows intense fruit with earth, leaves, menthol and raisin. Gets stable after 5-6 hrs and after that, the fruitiness is emphasized and felt really thick, just like rhone blend or something. Strong and fine tannin makes silky texture. Rich and straightforward barolo. Recommend to give enough time to show its quality.
  Or, holding this for some time would be a good option.

  wonderful, so typical nebbiolo, long life ahead, still a bit closed but with lots of energy

  Fantastic bouquet of ripe cherries, pipe tobacco, flowers, almonds, mint. Very sweet yet fresh palate, ripe berries, mint, spices, still some tannins sticking out, yet finely grained, with a long finish. Has the signature of 2006 in terms of structure and depth.
