Much calmer than my other bottle a few years ago, although still a fair amount of Nebbiolo tannin and acidity - and lots of fine brownish deposit at the bottom of the bottle. Decanted for that sediment and then drunk over the next hour, with the middle of the bottle having the best combination between freshness and integration (the tannins were initially a little rustic). Notes of acetone, slightly stewed dark fruit, tomato and forest floor, decent length, better with amitriciana than on its own.

Popped and poured at cellar temp. Definitely starting to show its age. Some bricking on the rim. Nice tar, roses and asphalt on the nose with just a hint of pruny fruit. Interesting mix of fragrant Nebbiolo fruit, fine tannins that are pretty fully resolved, and good refreshing acidity. Unfortunately there is the beginning of a stewed fruit note on the finish that is not terrible, but is what is leading me to believe it is time to drink up.

Dinner with Claudia Sottimano (Chicago, IL): Others at the table liked this more than I did. It is certainly a nice bottle of nebbiolo, but it is also starting to show its age too. The tannins have resolved but the fruit has also started to brown a little bit (perhaps this is just modestly advanced?). Some earthy tones here as well.

Pretty, but not tremendously complex at this stage of it's life. If you have any of this in your cellar, I'd recommend drinking it now.

Beautiful wine. In harmony. The hint of oak here has integrated nicely. Fairly rich and long. No rush.
