Pale+ ruby. Nose opened up over time; mineral/earthy, ashy nose with roasted red fruit core. BAlanced palate with a grippy finish. Another gem from the lost cellar (1 for 2 tonight, previous bottle of same wine heavily oxidized).

1996 Burgundy Retrospective - The Third Session (Clarity - Vienna, Virginia): Medium expressive nose displaying sweet red fruit, raspberry, cherry, soy, a hint of cigarette ash and limestone mineral. Fully integrated palate, packed sweet red fruit, bright acidity, good mineral presence and a medium to long bright red fruit driven finish. Perhaps the second most concentrated CV after the Leroy. Nice showing.

Expressive nose with rasperries, earth, orange peel, notes of mint and truffles. Pronounced acidity gives a lemony freshness on nose and palate. A bit thin on the midpalate, but overall quite lovely with good persistence and vibrancy.

Decent wine although perhaps not as great as could be expected from a Grand Cru.

Delicious - still quite a bit of tannin - juicy, well-resolved pinot.
