Saturday, August 27, 2022 - I tasted this wine before it was bottled. The wine is very balanced in acidity, sweetness, alcohol and body. It actually has a very traditional port flavor profile, despite using local varieties (Vinifera hybrids). The wine was fortified with a high proof brandy that had been custom distilled locally using the winery’s own wine. It is truly a monumental effort, doing it right with all the traditional practices of the Douro Valley. This wine was aged in oak for two years before release. Excellent effort with no shortcut taken. Excellent.
