from 3 parcels in Hermitage: L'Ermite, Sabot, and Bessards totaling
~10 ha of granitic and pebble covered soils.
Manual harvest. 2-day cold maceration.
~20 day fermentation in open concrete tanks at 28-30°C with daily
punch-down and pump-over during first 12 days.
Malolactic and aging in oak barrels.
15% Abv. Average 30.000 bottles/yr

Background: dates back to 1835 with the Delas and Audibert families.
Became Delas Frères in 1924 when inherited by Henri and Florentin
Delas. Michel Delas (3rd gen) succeeded in 1960. Merged with
Champagne Deutz in 1977, then part of Groupe Roederer in 1993.
Director: Fabrice Rosset (since 1996)
Winemakers: Jacques Grange (since 1997),
Claire Darnaud-McKerrow (since 2010)

A(ccuracy)=2: Deep crimson/ruby. Intense, tight-knit varietal.
B(alance)=2: Distinctive components in proportion.
C(omplexity)=3: Dark berries, fruit jam, bacon, game, chocolate,
leather, pepper, spice...
D(epth)=2: Robust mouthfeel. Full palette and lingering finish.
