Saturday, April 27, 2024 - Having just had a very nice 2014 vintage of this wine, then seeing the 2021 on sale this week, had to commit infanticide to guide my purchasing decision on more bottles. Took a 90 minute decant to come around, really started to show after 2 hours. 60 F. Deep ruby color. Lovely aromatic nose of plum, black cherry cola, vanilla, dark chocolate and earthy mint. Slightest hint of barnyard. Lively acidity and velvety tannins, slightest bit of heat, oak needs a bit more time to integrate. Full-bodied. Reasonably intense tart black cherry and sweet plum on the palate, black tea and subtle dried oak notes. Lingering drying cherry finish. Definitely a rebuy @ $40, but will hold off on opening those bottles for a few years.
