Saturday, November 14, 2009 - This is a very nice Beaujolais in this price range. Much better than many I've tried at under $13.00 from the Gamay grape in the common village selections. Certainly much better than what I refer to as the "flower bottle Beaujolais". On the nose one of the first things to pop out was bacon fat. Yes you get the strawberries, cherries and flowers you would expect, but this one has more to offer. One of the things I have always enjoyed about this varietal is how versatile this wine really is. It can be paired with many different foods or as a stand alone, it works well on it's own so no need to cook if your not in the mood. I saw this particular maker with an offer from Fleurie which is know as the Queen of the Beaujolais Villages. Moulin A Vent being the king. I will certainly give the Fleurie a shot.
