I probably admire this winemaker as much as anyone but he's a winemaker not an alchemist, Jim, and there is no way for this teletubby to ignore 15.9%.

    Your second question is a good one, I didn't find it to be burning hot but to me the mouth-feel was dominated by the sensation of alcohol and the finish had a bitterness that I associate with alcohol.

    I have enjoyed this wine in the past and my notes here probably reflect a combination of changes in my preferences and the evolution of the wine in the bottle. When the fruit forward nature of the wine calms down and other changes occur the alcohol isn't going to go anywhere.
