Community Tasting Note

84 Points

Friday, April 16, 2010 - The nose shows some alcohol, which is unappealing. But once I get past it, I get some smoked meat notes, blueberry and unripe plum. A good amount of wood on this nose too. On the palate is some seriously tart blueberries. The wine is relatively light in body and also tastes of brambles. The finish of bitter cranberries persists.

4/18/2010 7:41:00 AM - I drank half the bottle on the 16th, corked, and drank the second half last night on the 17th. After a night in the bottle, the Core Red Blend was SIGNIFICANTLY better. With the re-taste, I would have given it an 81 the first night, and an 88+ last night. So 84 seems like a fair median.

The blue and black fruit was purer and more ripe tasting, there was a great mid-palate of ground coffee, and the body of this wine was deliciously mouth-filling. Great stuff that apparently needed a LOT of air to show its stuff.
