Friday, August 5, 2011 - Gorgeous wine. At this stage in its development it is showing a flashy and flamboyant bouquet of black currant, ripe blackberries, espresso, baking spices like cinnamon and coriander and touches of leather. This wine enters the palate with gusto, big black cherries and cassis with a layered texture that showcases the fruit and is framed well by secondary and tertiary flavors of mocha and roasted coffee. Firm tannins and a prominent, but not overwhelming acidity ensure that this bad boy will lay down and continue to improve for 5-6 years and drink well another half decade after that. Long, savory finish that begs for another taste. This wine is not shy and it transcends the vintage with fierce character and personality. This is one to stockpile for short-medium term drinking. Bravo!
