Monday, September 5, 2011 - Firtstly, if you've had Beckman Cuvee Le Bec, this 2009 vintage is different than previous years. This Cuvee has a different blend of fruit... 45% Granache, 34% Syrah, 14% Mouvedre and interestingly, 7% Counoise. Dark but clear Ruby color. Beautiful soft Rhone smell, not overpowering like some. Licorice and soft dark fruits. Nice balanced acidity and mouthfeel, taste of blackberries and cherry and a little spice, green apple on the back of the palate during the finish. Paired this Italian sausage infused with truffle oil, sage and fennel, and sauteed green beans with garlic and lemon, all strong flavors, and this wine complimented them, didnt overpower or get lost. Drank more during a picnic with chicken and lighter flavors yesterday at Beckman with friends and it fit in equally well. Erin is a Beckman fan! Matthew not so much, but this wine, the Block 6 Syrah, and the Estate Sauvignon Blanc are changing his opinion.
