Wednesday, February 1, 2012 - A well made, good value Malbec, staightforwardly showing all the typical aromas and flavors of this variety: brooding dark fruit compote, heavy-roasted coffee beans, cocao, vanilla bean, a tinge of wet tobacco, and just a dusting of crushed dried violet. Finishes firmly, if a bit bitterly. The oak is thankfully restrained, allowing the earthy fruit to dominate. It's a tad shy upon pulling the cork, but give it an hour and it'll open-up to you quite nicely.
