Friday, April 6, 2012 - Nose: Started off with a good bit of funky, stewed tomato notes which 2 hours later have blown off. At the time of this writing, the nose shows the brighter side of cassis and plums with a hint of tobacco leaf. Not terribly complex but very refreshing. Palate: Cassis, bit of stemmy action on the attack. Very good acidity and mild tannins on the mid-palate, giving way to dry flowers and bright cassis on the finish. An unexpected treat for a bottle with poor provenance - it had been sitting at room temp in my father's kitchen for who knows how long. This second wine of Boyd Cantenac was sweet, refreshing, and very light on the palate and made for a very enjoyable aperitif.
