Sunday, December 30, 2012 - Although the "drink by" dates on this wine say to drink by 2011, the wine today is still quite drinkable and delicious. Although the nose has only a muted hint of red fruit left on it, the initial impression on the palate is definitely one of fruit (strawberries with maybe a little bit of apricot) and then the midpalate has some hints of wood and raisin/prune flavors leading to a long and acidic finish that is pleasant on its own but holds up to food quite well.

I have not had this wine prior to today, so perhaps it is slightly past its prime in terms of how much fruit is delivered. However, in my opinion, it is a nicely mellowed wine with a great deal of nuance throughout the tasting experience. I am glad to have been able to try it today.
