89 Points

Thursday, December 12, 2013 - Worried that I do this injustice by only giving this wine an 89. A true to form, old world Chianti Classico. Beautiful garnet color that you can just see your fingers through. Cherry and red currants with a cornucopia of herb/earth notes, sage, thyme, marjoram, granite, and soil. A bit of a juicy pomegranate mid/finish. Fine grained tannins and medium acidity. This just shined with home made pasta. Not at all a 'cocktail' wine, but with a good home-cooked meal it is just what the doctor ordered! Continued to improve with a 2 hour decant. Will certainly pick up more (great at $20/btl). Made with organic grapes; 90% Sangiovese & 10% Canaiolo; imported by Coltibuono; Natural cork; 13.5% abv.
