Thursday, March 6, 2014 - Brown and mahogany in colour. The nose is complex. Roasted coffee, chocolate, hazelnut and banana cake, but still retaining a zesty bite. I think the real beauty of this comes in the balance on the palate, bright Seville orange acidity without becoming too piquant, combined with soft caramel that adds weight to the body. Long, vinous finish, with a toasty mocha sensation that keeps the length going on and on. This is serious, intense Madeira but its so easy to enjoy. *****
