Thursday, July 3, 2014 - Drank alongside 1975 Ducru-Beaucaillou and a 1978 Leoville las Cases. The surprise from this wine came from it's upper shoulder fill and a slightly sunken cork which was wet past the crown. Another testament to the resilience of these wines as there were strong signs this bottle may had been mishandled in the past as the cork indicated, light seepage at the base of the cap and its ullage. Mature with plenty of life to live. Initially light on the nose which later opened up to florals. Rich and complex, lush sweet chocolate, dark fruit, duck fat and rhubarb. The wine of the night. Superb.
