Wednesday, September 14, 2016 - my first clare valley riesling,
mixed feelings about this wine. pale, very pale. first thing I noticed was a breath of gun flint. apple and pear fruits are backwards, urethane notes hit intermittently. acids are not overwhelming, rather moderate actually. The after palate coats the mouth with a round glycerine like texture, the flavor lasts on your tongue forever.
So very different, not bad, but hard to pin point on a point scale. My wife hated it, wouldn't even drink it. I find it very precise, all aspects of the wine played well together.
I would say 89-91+ , served cold on a hot summer day like today, was thoroughly enjoyed
