Monday, October 3, 2016 - A very nice, inexpensive, fruit forward and at our acquisition cost a great QPR daily drinker CA red wine from the Caymus family - guessing cab dominant with also syrah present although as with the Conundrum white the actual blend nor source vineyards are not divulged on the bottle. Smoothed out a bit with time in the glass so it will benefit from a 30-60 minute decant if you have the time but also fine just popped and poured - 2nd glass will be a bit better and smoother. Inky black, pleasant mouth feel, reasonably well balanced, full bodied, fruit forward and it has a nice lingering aftertaste. Nose big and floral with dark fruit, tobacco and pepper with dark fruit and balanced oak up front and a more earthy smokey finish. With proper cellaring this definitely has a few more years to go and I do expect some softening. Highly recommend this wine as an entry level daily drinker.
