Friday, December 16, 2016 - Tasted at Blackbird today, blend of 60% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, nose of burnt cinnamon, subdued nose that needed lots of coaxing, same on the palate, fairly fruit forward, big fruit, enjoy with a short decant, about 4 years to peak, and drink over the next 10 years, nice stuff, medium/big body, and medium/long finish. retail $135. Preferred the Arise to this wine.

All 3 Blackbird reds tasted side by side and discussed with my friend Matt who works there and have known for 8 years at 3 different wineries. In general Blackbird for the 2013 vintage needs cellar time, are slightly fruit forward, medium body, well blended but not home run wines, each is distinct, and cannot be called a value proposition in any way.
