Wednesday, February 8, 2017 - Deep ruby and purplish red. Layered nose with black olives, dark fruits, anise, and a little woody. Love the complexity and layers in the nose. A touch of floral too. Full bodied and heavy tannins (8/10). Savory attack with olives and then layers of dark fruits. Great iron notes and a touch of gravel. Long and never ending finish. Drink till 2032.

2/9/2017 5:04:00 AM - You have to just love what I refer to here at home as the "Saxum Finish" which goes on forever, kind of like the "Energizer" bunny. These are really great wines - I am still drinking my 09"s from Saxum at he present time so I have a way to go to get to the 13's but after reading your review I might just sneak one out of storage. Just joined your blog. Have a great day and happy drinking.

2/18/2017 10:10:00 AM - The 2009's were the first year that I received any wine from Saxum, do not actually remember the first year I became eligible. Actually I just ordered by 2014 allocation this past week. I belong to a bunch of clubs, Peter Michael, Paul Hobbs, Switchback, Seasmoke, Phelps to name a few so I able to let wine sit and mature. I have tasted some of the 10's and 11's of the Saxum and they are excellent - have not even thought about the 12's or 13's. If you want to get into a boutique club try Realm as their wines are amazing as well. Happy Drinking
