2014 Corra Cabernet Sauvignon

Community Tasting Note

96 Points

Friday, August 4, 2017 - Slow ox for about 3 hours, then consumed over 90 minutes at dinner. Very approachable this early, much more so than a 2012 Corra from about 6 months ago. Soft tannins, balanced, long finish especially towards the final glass. Ripe fruit, earth notes and complex aromas. What really stood out was the softness of the wine and a most unique mouth feel. I will be looking forward to Celia's February release of her 2015 cab.

11/14/2017 4:56:00 AM - Nice note. Really enjoyed the 2013 vintage but trying to be a little patient with the 2014 vintage. Although it sounds like it's drinking well with a decent slow ox/decant. Also sounds like Parker under-stated this wine with his 91 rating. Take care.

11/14/2017 6:23:00 AM - Thanks. The Parker score does surprise me, which is one of the reasons I place more validity on CT scores. I do think the few Corra wines I’ve tasted benefit from substantial air time. I’m really looking forward to her 2015 release.

11/14/2017 10:43:00 AM - I hear you. I tend to agree with Parker more often than not but Corra probably doesn't fall in that big/bold cab profile that he prefers. More of an elegant profile but I love the purity and flavors of Celia's wines. One of my favorite wines was the 2009 Corra cab which he only gave 93+. Oh well, as long as we enjoy it. Take care.
