Saturday, September 16, 2017 - Overly ripe and fruit-forward to my taste. Grenache is dominant, with notes of strawberries and red fruit, in this CDP. Well-made and in many ways elegant, especially after several hours of decanting, but this is admittedly poor value at nearly $100. Beaucastel CDPs offer so much more, in my opinion and tasting experience.

9/19/2017 10:43:00 AM - I am hopeful that's the case, jdponfil, as I have three more bottles. I am generally capable of seeing (or rather tasting?) bright future for young yet promising wines, but I am sure I get it wrong at times. In any case, thank you for your comment!

Personally, with prices these days (even though CDPs offer good values), I would prefer drinking them when I know I will enjoy them the most, or at the very least enjoy them, rather than drinking them while they are in a dumb phase. That is one area in which I rely on CT!

What fits you is not what fits me here, at least in terms of drinking philosophy. I like to taste my wines at different stages and, as I previously stated, I am generally good at detecting great potential. With CDPs, I have a long history of tastings, including many well-aged ones, prior to my CT notes; CDPs used to be my favorite wines but not any more for a number of years.
