Friday, September 29, 2017 - I have been drinking Storrs wine for at least 10 years now. One of my favorites is their Santa Cruz Petite Syrah, so I was very interested to see a Rusty Ridge Petite 'Sirah' listed in the wine club allocation as this is typically the site of their hallowed zinfandel. This wine is fantastic. Deep almost jet black in color- this Sirah packs a ton of flavor. The nose is very hot- the alcohol is brimming, but the scent mellows to demonstrate vibes of rich chocolate and spice. The flavor profile is reminiscent of spice, mole, with a kick on the back end of tannin/acidity. I really want to do a side by side between this and the Santa Cruz Petite to see how they differ.
