2015 Austin Hope Cabernet Sauvignon

Community Tasting Note

Saturday, April 21, 2018 - Some friends over and I decided to pop a bottle to see what they thought. Similar thoughts as the last bottle - thankfully I only bought two. Once again, awfully rich, sweet, and over-extracted. If tasted blind I would never guess it was a cabernet. Drank next to a 2015 Becklyn cab and 2012 Lewelling cab. Both of those wines were considerably better in my opinion. I'll refrain from rating this bottle because it's just not my style, however, I believe the 97 rating from WE is really generous. Once again, I believe it's closer to the 89 rating from WA - although that's also a little generous in my opinion.

7/15/2018 10:01:00 AM - Badmonkey, I wish I would have scrolled further down CT to read your reviews. Unfortunately I did not and I ended up purchasing a bottle at Costco to try. I can see why some like this style for the same reason many do not - the wine is very sweet. I tried about 1/3 of the bottle last night. Not sure I will have the desire to even finish the bottle. It reminds me of when I’ve had too much of a very rich dessert and I can’t have another bite. Luckily my purchase was limited to one bottle.
