Saturday, October 27, 2018 - Black cherry, floral notes and light spices on the nose. A bit above medium bodied (14% ABV) with black cherry and some raspberry notes upfront. Adds some plum, additional black raspberry and and some blackberry notes through the mid-body and into the finish. Picks up some tart red cherry notes along with spices on the backside. Solid tannins lead into the mineral driven finish. I opened this bottle two hours in advance and it wasn't nearly enough as the wine still showed as extremely tight and spice/acidity dominant at that point. Began to open up at the four hour mark and by five, it was showing beautifully. Mid-body in particular took on that expressive elegance that showcases the fruit, but framed with structural notes, leading to a more complete experience. Like the Ceras from two days ago, I had an opportunity to try a bottle and assess where this wine was so as to better judge what I'd purchased from the winery. Based on this, I would hold these bottle until at least mid-2020 to give this time to integrate as based on what this wine showed today, I would expect it will be noticeably improved in that time.
