90 Points

Monday, May 27, 2019 - For my wine-fellows and me, who attended the presentation of the new vintage at the winery, this was the standout among the off-dry Kabinett-wines, as it was more substantial (some declassified Spätlese included?) than either Abtsberg and Herrenberg without sacrificing freshness. And indeed, despite the endless summer of 2018, there is a nice deal of freshness to this wine. And there is lots of gorgeous, ripe yellow fruits. Personally I prefer vintages like 2008 or 2016, which taste more herbal, stony and are cut sharper, but this is definitely a crowd-pleaser and may age along similar lines as the 2009 or 2011 Kabinetts from this estate (which would be a good thing!).
