Saturday, August 10, 2019 - Fantastic wine. Absolutely not a pinot that I would have ever guessed Volnay blind, but nevertheless fabulous. It is a big Pinot with dark fruited profile, but the size and shoulders does not have much to do with oak, nor sweetness or for that matter tannins.

It shares some wild and deep qualities that you sometimes find in natural wine made out of gamay, or cinsault or Syrah. The freshness is perfect, tannins sandpaper fine and well integrated by now so this is a good time to start drinking these, but I imagine these bottles will continue to develop complexity over the next decade. It is for sure a completely dry wine with a strict and intellectual quality to it. Reminded me about some of the best Pommard wines I have tried. A little robust/rustic as previous tracker noted, but for me it is all in one place nevertheless.
