Sunday, September 15, 2019 - A lovely wine and a great discovery!

This is a Chignin Bergeron (Roussanne) that has been raised mostly in steel tanks but 20 % has been raised for 9 months in oak barrels. The alcohol is quite elevated at 15 %, but the wine is so balanced you don't feel it. I actually think I prefer this expression to many of the northern rhone whites from the same grape, as this wine has a really nice acidic core that balances all the ripe lovely aromas and richness.

The color is deep dark golden, on the nose, both fresh sage and dry chervil herbs. Apricots and (acacia) honey as well. On the palate it's a dry expression but with a rich velvety texture, good acidity and -as indicated by the name - a saline streak to the finish which just adds complexity and personality.
