Wednesday, December 18, 2019 - From a 375. This is still quite youthful Esprit Blanc with only 55% Roussanne. Given the high percentage of Grenache Blanc 28% and Picpoul Blanc 17%, and their bracing acidity and mineral character, this currently tastes best chilled, in contrast to other vintages of Esprit Blancs (for example 2012, 2014) that emphasize Roussanne's fat, nutty and lush qualities. It came into balance after about 4 hours, so decant and air.

Viscosity tells one that Roussanne is still a player and notes of raw almond, almost ripe peach, and delicate honey gradually emerge. The palate is light to medium but the finish is disproportionately long and inviting. Patience will be rewarded. 90 to 94.
