Sunday, April 19, 2020 - Friday Night Wines: Initially nose was sweet rich red fruit, herbs for days (oregano, thyme especially). Palate showed red and blue fruit, with sweet oak. After gaining more air, the fruit seems more mellowed, the wine picks up length, and expands on its already seemingly endless complexity. Incredible bottle, but definitely too young. The oak is unbalanced at this point but this should be magic once that resolves.

4/19/2020 5:59:00 PM - The oak note is interesting because this wine is aged only in large neutral oak foudres. You may be picking up some of the garrigue that is generally infused in these wines.

    4/19/2020 6:51:00 PM - winemaker - interesting! i didn't know about the oak treatment..

However, i consider Garrigue more vegetation / herb (bushy/fragrant plant).. so more of a green/herbal note? not oak on the palate?
    not sure tho!
