Thursday, April 5, 2018 - Tasted blind. Opaque purple color turning violet at the rim with a reflective edge. The nose gives off dark fruit forward notes that are on high octane with some smoked oak. The palate is opulent and velvety with just enough acidity to carry the ripe blueberry, raspberry ganache. Secondary notes of dark chocolate, espresso and toffee. Finishes long and luscious with hints of eucalyptus. In one word, WOW! This rivals the 1997 and the 2002, but may just lack the years to reach a perfect score. Drink now with a 45-minute decant until 2037.
