Tuesday, November 17, 2020 - 74% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Cabernet Franc, 4% syrah, 2% Petit Verdot
from 314 plots totaling 27.7 hectares on the banks of the Mekong River
at the foothills of the Himalayas in north Yunnan province, China
at 2,200 - 2,600 m with manual farming involving 114 local families
following organic and traditional practices. The blend comprises yield from
4 main villages: 17% Adong, 25% Shuori, 36% Sinong, 22% Xidang.
Extra oxygen was introduced in vinification to compensate for thin air at altitude.
Malolactic in barrels and earthenware. Aged 12 months in 35% new oak.
14.5% Abv.

11/14/2021 4:14:00 AM - Drank the 2016 Ao Yun next to the 2015 and 2014. Although the youngest, it was the most impressive. Opened at noon, decanted at 5pm and drank at 8pm. It was still very dark and very expressive on the nose, with hint of mint and greeness. The palate was vibrant black fruits and a touch of spiciness. What imoressed me was how it developed in the glass, gaining in weight and depth but never shook the green finish. Feels like this is a keeper
