Saturday, January 2, 2021 - What a nose. Cherries, red currants, then sage, balsamic, leather. Primary and tertiary intersecting beautifully at this stage. Tannins very soft, acids Med + and alcohol in check for a warm year. You can tell they picked early. Length is incredibly long. Benchmark brunello. Can’t stop smiling with this in hand.

1/2/2021 3:45:00 PM - Nice to hear you're getting some tertiary. I've got 2 left and my last was 4+yrs ago so I'll think of opening one again later this year. We stopped at the property w/o a res and no one around. Lovely grounds. I had been desperately looking for a pit stop so used one the lane trees on our way out :) Stately place. Wish it had been open.
Cheers & Happy 2021!

4/17/2021 3:02:00 AM - To pinotpounder. Regarding decanting. Our Lucca Italy waiter did decant. It was very accessible in 2016. I'd likely open one at home 4 hours before dinner, taste and decide what it needs then. I'd likely serve my next one in Riedel Burg glasses.
Cheers
