Thursday, April 22, 2021 - Famiglia Cotarella, Ferentano, Lazio IGT, 2018: Falesco made a kosher run of this wine before, in 2005. Unfortunately I never got to taste it. This wine is made of a very rare grape variety named Roscetto, which is indigenous to Italy. In fact, only Ricardo Cotarella produces a varietal wine with this variety, and he is said to have solely saved it from extinction. Shiny gold, with green reflections, the nose on this wine shows notes of orange blossom, lime, ripe pear, white peach, mirabelle plum, with subtle waxy notes and hints of toasted oak. Medium-bodied, dry but not sharp, with great concentration on the palate, vibrant and a lush creamy texture, really nice viscosity, with notes of lime, juicy yellow plum, pear, apple, orange blossom water, medium-plus acidity, earthy minerals, with touches of lemon curd, almonds and honeycomb on the long and elegant finish. Truly a fascinating, highly complex white wine. 12.5% Abv. Drink now-2024, maybe longer. 92-93
