Saturday, June 12, 2021 - This is totally a wine (and a guy) you either love or hate, and I find myself strangely ambivalent.

It's zero/zero, so if you that kind of stuff is important to you, definitely seek this out. Some VA that mostly (but not entirely) blew off. In fact, it opened up beautifully after two hours in a decanter. Fresh cranberries, red cherries, a lot of spice notes which are super interesting. Black pepper and cumin. Fresh green herbs, dirt and red chili pepper. Some mineral/salinity as well. I like the tension between fruit and spice notes ont his wine. Medium bodied, nice powdery tannins. This will develop for a couple more years, though I probably wouldn't age it any longer than that.

Priced at $50, high even for Etna where prices have been exploding (ha ha) in the last few years. Even there, you can find comparable quality around $30/40. I was going to give this an 83 or 84; but you know what? This wine got me and my friends thinking. I'm not going to rush out and buy Magma ($200+ !); but I would not mind having this again.
