Sunday, July 25, 2021 - Simply splendid at 21 years since vintage. Vibrant red color. Dark fruited, aromatic nose, blackberries, cherries. Still intense fruit but with genuine elegance. Blackberries, blueberries, cherries, anise. Fine tannins, perfectly poised acidity, great balance. Finishes long, dark fruited and spicy. This could continue to develop for another 3 to 5 years and drink well long after that. Food brings out the cherry notes. 14.8% ABV but no heat at all. The bottle indicates 100% Syrah but I’ve been told there is a small portion of Mourvèdre blended in.
