Friday, September 10, 2021 - Acker's COVID-Vaccinated BYO Dinner and Auction Simulcast (Craft - New York NY): Small glass, brief note. Spice, black plum and cigarbox all nicely combined in a rich, complex package. Great nose, good flavors are slightly less enticing or complete, but still very good. Best I can ever recall for this wine.

9/21/2021 1:00:00 PM - I'm a little shocked at seeing this because about 5 years ago I swapped 5 bottles of 2000 ports for 5 older Bordeaux, some of which I had owned before divorce and all stored at 55. The '89 Las Cases was quite tannic which was worrisome (also '86 Cos from my case ... doubted this would ever be balanced). The wine of the group which was stellar, one I'd never collected was a shock ... 1989 Leoville Barton, better than the Pichon, my favorite and why I owned 6 vintages before selling my wines. Thanks for restoring my confidence in this wine.

9/21/2021 1:40:00 PM - Chris@77, 1989 Bordeaux took a long time to come around. Many are much better now vs 5 years ago. This bottle was much better vs last time I tasted this same wine in 2019. Of course, there is also the issue of bottle variation.
