Friday, February 18, 2022 - ESSA, Emunah, Hemel en Aarde Ridge, 2020: This is an intriguing and delicious Bordeaux-style blend from South Africa. Deep garnet towards purple. The nose delivers aromas of smoke, loamy dirt, ripe cassis, blackberries, tar, and black olives. Full-bodied, with nice concentration, with on the palate black currants and blackberries, black olives, cured meat, wet earth and herbs with medium acidity, and notes of dark chocolate with grainy tannins drying the mouth on the long and rich finish. 13.5% Abv. Drink 2023-2029. 91-92
