Thursday, September 8, 2022 - This is my first go with the October 2021 disgorgement, and still being able to find this cuvee for less than $50 US makes me happy, too. Opened this yesterday so drinking over two days to have the gift of air and two different contexts to measure the wine. This disgorgement has something different going on. The apple character seems brassy and lightly oxidized, and the fruit has an interesting lime impression along with some grapefruit and a saline finish. This is how I would describe the wine with chill. After I let it warm up, then the apple note recedes and the lime, pear and saline are more prominent. Texturally, I have never found this wine to lack for fruit or roundness, even with the dosage absent, and with this disgorgement that consistency is here. Just overall, a consistently delicious Champagne, farmed organic and priced very fair.
