Tuesday, December 27, 2022 - 100% Nebbiolo
from the historical Marcenasco vineyard in La Morra with low-lime,
blue marl soil at 240-290 m.
Manual harvest. De-stemmed and pressed.
Fermented in temperature controlled stainless steel vats.
3-4 weeks maceration with submerged cap.
Malolactic in steel tanks.
Aged 2 yrs in 25 hl and 50 hl oak barrels.
Plus ~1 yr in bottle.
14% Abv.

Background: Renato Ratti bottled his first single-vineyard Barolo in 1965.
His study of Barolo's subregions eventually led to the development
of the Menzione Geografica Aggiuntiva (MGA) system for Barolo,
which is roughly equivalent to the Crus in France.
Succeeded by son Pietro Ratti.

A(ccuray)=2: Med light ruby. Perfumed, tight-knit varietal.
B(alance)=3: Modulated components in harmony.
C(omplexity)=2: Berries, licorice, petals, hint of leather/tobacco.
D(epth)=1: Taut mouthfeel. Good length and finish.
