Friday, January 6, 2023 - Initially, the wine offered up rich and seductive scents of red berries, black cherries, plums, and mocha. The mouthfeel: creamy, fruity, and alcoholic. After several hours, however, this seemingly promising creation was overwhelmed by alcohol and unrelenting bitterness. The fruit seemed to have retreated into submission, leaving behind a very muted wine whose structure was lacking. Is this merely a passing phase? Hard to say, but I’m not sticking around to find out.

But I was taken aback by the bitterness that overwhelmed all else once the wine had been allowed to breathe for several hours. As a Washingtonian, I've been inclined to support our state wines. But most domestics are addicted to over-extraction to enhance flavor. I'll continue to focus on collecting Burgundy.

Agree that FM is really good about doing what’s right if it’s a flawed bottle. There are some comments from them floating around CT recognizing similar issues on possible corking, and they mention to reach out to them. Cheers!
