Monday, January 16, 2023 - I had decided based on prior vintages that this wine was the light weight in Ogier’s range, so I went light on it this year, despite some glowing comments. A mistake. It’s a ripper.
Medium sediment. Full to deep red.
Rich, ripe, sumptuous Shiraz nose, nicely balanced with acid and oak.
Firm, round black cherry flavours with the acid to hold it. Peppery inflected finish. Quite long. A definite step up from prior vintages.
As an Aussie, it has familiar fruit flavours and ripeness but the finesse and the acid transport you to Northern Rhone.
