Rich garnet red in the glass and a bit of alcohol on the nose initially. This wine got materially better as it was given time to open up. I would suggest that it probably peaked at about 4 hours. After about 4 hours the nose was quite good and the wine settled down nicely. A velvety finish that makes me think this could be even better in the future than the critics have reviewed it. Buy them, hold them, but don't waste one this early--drink the '02 Pavie Macquin now instead (it's great and relatively inexpensive!)
