Sunday, March 26, 2023 - I wasn't thrilled with the high price tag on this wine. It is hard to stomach $450 on their newest wine, despite the history of it, especially if you knew what Hartwell was selling it for previously with the same winemaker. That being said, I can't argue with the quality here.

Starts with a breathtaking nose that's somewhat reminiscent of a gorgeous To Kalon - huge creme de cassis, blackberries, dark chocolate, forest floor and dark flowers. On the palate, unreal tannin integration gives rise to an ethereal texture, that is just oh so suave and sexy. There is huge fruit purity going on here, with exceptional concentration and depth, but also with a mineral driven backbone that indicates this wine is going to age very well. At times opulent and then backward, it gives you a hint of all it can do while also reining in its power inside an age worthy frame. The finish is massively long and completely satisfying. This is definitely a fantastic offering from Realm, if pricey.

I know the people that read these mostly own the bottles, so there's some implicit bias towards wanting to read good things. Thankfully this was very good, just kind of crazy they priced it so high. Guess that's why I only bought 2! Cheers.
