Monday, May 1, 2023 - Beautiful dark red color with no visual sign of age. Tight nose with ripe plum and light wood, like popsicle stick. When you taste this, it's hard to believe that it's almost 56 years old. The fruit is mature, but not madeirized, mostly plum with a little cooked strawberry. But what's striking, other than the ample volume on the fruit, is the freshness and stiffness of the tannins. By no means harsh, but nothing close to resolved, This had the structure and mouthfeel of a 15 to 20 year old wine. This thing will quite literally reach 100 with plenty left in the tank. It's immortal. As it got air, we teased rose petal, orange oil, and fennel out of this, and plenty of leather too. Superb. Pretty. Youthful. Excellent. (From Magnum).
